Temperature Effects

Global Temperature

Global warming is the gradual heating of Earth's surface, oceans and atmosphere. It is caused by human activity, primarily the burning of fossil fuels that pump carbon dioxide (CO2), methane and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. As you can see from the graph on the right, over the past twenty years, the earth’s surface temperature, globally, fluctuates but overall it gradually increases, with it hitting a peak in 2015 and 2016.

Northern Hemisphere Temperature

As we can see from the graph, the average temperature in the Northern Hemisphere is quite a bit higher than the average temperature in any other region and is partially what brings up the average of the global temperatures in each year. Although there are still fluctuations, there are less than in any other region and the gradual increase is moreconsistent, with the peak in 2015 and 2016 getting higher than 1 degree celsius.

Southern Hemisphere Temperature

The average temperature in the Southern Hemisphere is far less than any region. The increase is also far less consistent than than any other region, with the fluctuations being very high even though the overall temperature is still low. The temperature hit a peak in 2015and 2016 like all the other regions but in 1998 the surface temperature was quite high.
